PERFORMANCE

Q. How does changing my prop size affect the performance of my Regal Boat?

A. Increasing pitch, increases top speed, but also increases the amount of time it takes to get on plane. Increasing pitch will also decrease the amount of pulling power at the start. On the other hand, decreasing pitch, decreases top speed, but helps the boat get on plane faster with more pulling power. One caution to always follow is not to exceed the maximum engine RPM's.

Q. If my boat will not exactly meet the performance schedule as outlined by Regal is there a problem?

Q. Why can't I get full RPM's at wide-open throttle?

A. There could be several reasons for loosing RPM's:

  • Old fuel could decrease performance.
  • Your engine many need a tune-up.
  • Added weight could decrease RPM's
  • Hull bottom and running gear need to be cleaned. A small amount of growth on the bottom can increase drag and decrease performance.

Q. If I add bottom paint to my hull bottom will it affect the performance?
